They’re small, 3mm Pellets made to support a balanced daily diet for rabbits and guinea pigs alongside unlimited hay and fresh water.
They focus on fibre and essential vitamins for healthy teeth and tummies. They’re made locally near our farm here in Northamptonshire.
Think of Pellets as the supporting feed, and hay should always be the star of the show!
The big difference is Vitamin C. Guinea pigs need Vitamin C in their diet (they can’t naturally make their own, unlike rabbits), so Guinea Pig Pellets are fortified to help support their daily needs, while Rabbit Pellets do not require this addition.
They’re uniform pellets (nuggets), not a mixed blend. Uniform pellets help prevent your pets picking out the tasty bits and leaving the goodness behind.
A great pellet focusses on fibre first, with no unnecessary extras. Many rabbit welfare sources flag higher fibre as a key thing to check when choosing pellets.
Keep them cool, dry, and out of direct sunlight, and watch the best-before date.
This is especially important for Guinea Pig Pellets containing Vitamin C, as Vitamin C levels can gradually reduce over time and with exposure to air. For optimal freshness, it’s usually best not to keep a bag open for too long.
Pellets should usually make up only a small part of a rabbit’s diet. Most rabbits and guinea pigs need just a small daily portion alongside unlimited hay and fresh water.
Make sure to follow the feeding guides on our bags and look at our guide above.
