Bag sizes of Farmer's Blend

Not sure which size to choose?

Your pets come in different sizes – so does Farmer’s Blend: Handy and Large.

Every pet is unique, so these figures are only a guide. How long a bag lasts will depend on your pet’s breed, size, age, appetite and how much hay they waste.

As a rough guide:

  • One rabbit: A large 2kg bag should last around 4 weeks.
  • One guinea pig: A large 2 kg bag should last around 8 weeks.

Not sure which to choose? Get in touch and we’ll help you calculate the right size to suit your nibblers.

How to feed

Farmer’s Blend can be fed as part of your pets’ regular hay rotation, alongside plenty of fresh grass hay.

As hay should make up around 80%-90% of your rabbit, degu or guinea pig’s daily diet, keep a generous pile available at all times, topping it up daily for grazing, munching and natural foraging.

For hamsters, mice, rats and gerbils it’s primarily used for enrichment and nesting rather than as a main food source.

Top up daily, remove any hay that’s become damp or messy, and always serve with fresh water.

It’s worth noting that alfalfa is naturally higher in calcium and protein than grass hays. If your rabbit is prone to bladder sludge, stones, or weight gain, a straight grass hay (like Timothy or Meadow) can be the better everyday base, with richer hays used more thoughtfully.
